This senior session took place on a warm summer night. We timed it perfectly to start in Zeeland, work our way through Holland and end at the beach. During an evening session, you're either racing or waiting for the sun to be in the right spot at each location. You can time it perfectly, but unexpected clouds can kill your timing in one location and amplify the beauty in another. Or the lack of clouds can do the same.
We made a few last minute stops while waiting for the sun to lower a bit more before beach shots were possible. Literally pulling over, saying "hey I saw this spot we should turn around for a few minutes." The photo above was taken in front of some planted Black-eyed Susans on the side of the road on our way from Tunnel Park to Holland State Park. They were meant to be a quick time-killer on our way to the sunset and ended up being some of my favorite shots.
By the time we got to the beach, the sun was in the perfect spot to stroll through the dunes for some grassy shots and take a few photos in front of the lighthouse. The real fun, however, was when we decided to get in the water. The waves were a little much, but we made it through. Lighting was in our favor at each stop, and we were really happy with the results.
