My client reached out for a last minute anniversary shoot with her husband. They were coming to town Friday and really wanted pictures by the tulips. With just a few days' notice, I was happy to make it work.
We were working with two obstacles that afternoon: gusty winds and crowds. Tulip Time in Holland, MI draws in millions of tourists, and all of them flock to the tulip fields. Friday afternoon was guaranteed to be the second busiest day of the week, but we took our time and waited for others to walk by and enjoy the view after which we would rush in and snap our shots.
The entire week had been full of winds 15-20 miles per hour. It was chilly and not ideal for photos, but between every cold gust was a calm lull, which allowed us to grab a few shots. We ended up with a beautiful variety of shots to choose from.
